They spend most of their time eating

 Yes, these are the elephants who spend three-quarters' of their time eating. It is said that they eat up to 165kg of food. Get to know more of the elephant in this article.

1. The elephants are the largest mammal on the earth with the African species being much bigger compared to the Asian. The male have a height of up to 3m and weigh 6.5 tonnes. Their maturity age is 35-40 years and have a lifespan of up to 60-70 years. Their calves also weigh 120kg at birth.

2. The two species; African and Asian have a slight difference. The African elephant's ears are much larger than the Asian one. Secondly the African species trunk has two fingers while its counterpart has only one.

3. Elephants have a bigger temporal lobe than that of man hence they never forget. 

4. Elephant's calves can stand up to 20 minutes at birth and walk after 1 hour. Two days later the calve joins the herd.

Elephants have been in danger in the past century and only 450000 African species left while only 45000 Asian elephants left. Approximately 55 elephants are killed on a single day.
