Places in the world that have no gravitional force

Gravity is a force that pulls objects towards the centre of the earth. This gravitional force holds the earth, the sun and the whole solar system in position. The force was discovered by Isaac Newton after an apple dropped to where he was sitting. And he thought to himself why didn't the apple go upwards and there it's when he concluded that gravity caused the apple to drop down. Despite our planet having gravity, there are some places that do not experience the force, they include;

 1. Magnetic hill, Leg

The place covers a route of 30km from Leg to Kargil. It is in this unique route where you would notice a road going uphill but when the engine is turned off, it moves at a speed of 20km/h up the hills. All this happens due to the magnetic force that pulls the car uphill.

2. Spook hill, Florida

Settlers named the place 'spook hill' after noticing that their horses labouring downhill hence the name 'spook hill' In this area, a car normally rolls up the spooky hill. If a car is stopped it's observed that it will start moving upwards.

3. Cosmos Mystery, Rapid City

Trees in the location are bowed. One can stand there and not fall in any angle. There are various spots where this phenomenon is experienced

The Vaquita

Vaquita is a marine mammal that is located in Mexico's Gulf of Carlfonia. Its among endangered species endemic to the sea of Cortez . The main reason leading to its extenction are the gillnets used in fishing totoaba, sharks, chaba and mackerels.

Each day between November and May, gillnets are laid stretching 600m are dropped in the Cortez sea to catch totoaba which is an illegal activity. It is did that their swim bladder has a good price in the China market averaging from $20000 -$60000 per kilo.

And one more thing that's causing all these problems is that the gillnets do not only catch the totoaba, the catch the endangered species vaquita due to its ability to catch many types of fish.

There are about 9 Vaquita left according to the last statistics despites all efforts by the Mexican and UNESCO efforts to prevent the species from being extinct. According to the Andrea Crosta of Earth League International, the only way to save vaquita is to arrest all criminals involved in the illegal fishing and patrols to be done frequently.

The forbidden City of China

Sinking deep into the history of China, we take a look at the Palatial Forbidden City. You may be asking yourself why is it called forbidden, am going to answer your questions right away.

Its called the " Forbidden City" because commoners were not allowed in and only imperial families could be allowed in. Its construction begun in 1406 and it took 14 years for the palace to be complete. It covers an extremely large area of about 960m from north to south and 753m from east to west. It also covers an area of 70 hectares. The Forbidden City is also made of many rooms, 9371 according to the last count. The city was a home for 24 emperors in the Ming and Qung dynasty.

It was also made up of three parts; The defenses, the outer court and the inner court.

In the defense section, a 100m high wall was built and watchtowers constructed in each corner for maximum security.

The outer court was where the emperors attended grand ceremonies and also conducted state affairs.

The inner court had three structures, the first being the palace of heavenly party whereby it was recognized as emperors sleeping quarters. The second structure was the palace of union where imperial seals were stored. The third structure was the hall of terrestrial tranquillity, the emperor's wedding room.

Coming next is the 15 unknown facts of the Forbidden City. Don't forget to comment and read my other interesting articles.

They meet but do not mix; Uknown facts of Atlantic and pacific ocean

While majority of the people have more knowledge of heavenly bodies compared to water bodies but today you are going to learn more facts of oceans and seas.

You must be asking yourself how this phenomenon is possible but the truth of the matter is that the two oceans do not mix. Water bodies cover the larger part of the earth's surface compared to land with the two oceans; Pacific and Atlantic covering a larger part.

These two oceans meet at Tierra Del Fuego, an Archipelago in south America. Its quite astonishing that the two oceans do meet but do not mix due to some factors.

Firstly the density of the two oceans differ. Scientists say that Atlantic ocean is salter than Pacific ocean hence preventing mixing. Other factors include difference in currents and temperature.

Am going to discuss the two remaining factors in my next episode, be in touch.

The Taj Mahal history

The Mughul emperor commissioned the construction of the white-marble mausoleum, the Taj Mahal to mourn his soulmate Mumtaz Mahal. It's located on the southern part of Yamuna River near Agra. The construction begun in 1633 and it took 22 years to reach its completionin 1653.

Before Shah Jahan became the emperor, he met the love of his life in 1607. The two later wedded in 1612 and Shah Jahan named his wife Mumtaz Mahal meaning the chosen one of the palace. The two had 14 children and it was so unfortunate that Jahan's wife lost her life while giving birth to the 14th child. Another astonishing thing is that out of the 14 children only 7 made through past the infancy stage.

Her death happened when Mumtaz Mahal accompanied his husband to a rebellion besides being heavily pregnant. Later on, Mumtaz gave birth to a healthy girl. Mumtaz health condition was good at that moment but later on it got worser and Shah Jahan was informed. Mumtaz later died in Shah Jahan's hand and that made him weep for eight days consecutively. Mumtaz body was buried there right away according to Islamic laws.

The next year after passing on of his wife, Shah Jahn ordered his wife's body be dug up and buried again in Agra where the Taj Mahal would be built.

Passes were constructed at key positions to allow trade merchants have their way in. Signal towers were made for military communication. They used fire, smoke, banners and other methods to communicate. They were constructed at hilltops to enable high visibility. The wall in general was made for security purposes . It stood 6.5m wide at the base and 5m at the top with also an average height of 7-8m.

Get to also these wonderful stories in my blog; Astonishing facts of lake Natron and the Great Sphinx of Giza.

The Sphinx Of Giza

When talking about the worlds largest sculptures, what comes to your mind is the Great Sphinx Of Giza. It measures 240 feet long and 66 feet high. It constitutes a lion's body and a human head decorated with a royal headdress. The Great Sphinx is dated to the fourth dynasty and there are several theories which try to explain who built the sculpture. Most scholars say that Khafre built to celebrate their father Khuth. Others claim its Redjedef, Khafre older brother to have built it. However other scholars say that since the sculpture resembles Knuth, they claim that the King himself built the Great Sphinx of Giza.

The Sphinx of Gaza was seen as a male Pharaoh who was their spiritual guardian. It's estimated by researchers that it would have taken 100 people 3 years to curve the great Sphinx.

For some years now, the Sphinx of Giza has been deteriorating over years. Since 1990 renovations have been done including clearing the sand around the sculpture. A lot has been done in renovating the tourist attraction site.
